Remember me? I’m going to Transcendence music festival.

In case you forgot about me, I’m Chuck Manley.  You can read about me here.

I used to write in this pretty regularly for about a year, but at the end of my 6 month trip in India, I got swept up in the madness of returning to the United States.  Once again my priorities shifted towards first world concerns like, “how the hell am I going to afford to eat in this crazy country?

This was food going to waste at a festival.

This was food going to waste at a festival.

The answer was simple; from the same bountiful universe I had been nurtured in for this long.  After spending a month with friends and family in Detroit, I was off again ready to traverse the seas of the unknown and collect a bounty of life lessons.

That was 3 and a half months ago and I’ve since taken thousands of photos, made some cool videos, did some corporate gigs, traveled from Seattle to San Francisco to Denver to British Columbia back to Seattle and now I’m in northern California living out of a 1985 Grand Marquis, named Thelma.

Life is good.

Since returning from India, the most exciting change in the life of Chuck Manley is becoming – as Foreverland called me – a festival archivist.  I’ve been working with different music festivals around North America to document and preserve the growth of their individual and collective culture.  I share my photos, videos, and words, and generally document the experience through whatever creative outlets I can.

And that’s what this post is about.

Tomorrow I shoot my fifth festival this season, Transcendence and I’m excited for more flashing lights, umpf umpf umpf, and dancing until sunrise.
